In unit 2, my work explores the impact of childhood on gender perceptions. My life experience has been full of gender labeling since I was a child. As I get older and follow more and more reports about gender stereotypes in many modern societies, I think that if my childhood didn't have so many gender stereotypes, my gender identity might also vary.
These ideas are combined in my work as a form of self-reflection, expressing my doubts based on my personal experience and allowing me to conclude different researches during the creative process.
Use oil paint for the overall creation. I "collage" through toys from my childhood and objects from my present. I will incorporate my appearance into the painting in most of my works to better express my confusion and thinking. In many pieces, I draw very detailed objects first and then use many mediums to mix paints to make them transparent and lay them on top of the original work to give it a hazy feel.
My work aims to express my concerns about children's gender education. Through painting, I incorporate these emotions into my creations to reflect the ills of gender labeling. Make other people and myself realize that there are many gender stereotypes in the modern society.
